Motivating your team to learn isn’t always the easiest task in the world. Finding the right ways that actually stick and make your team want to grow and know more can seem allusive at times. So, we decided to put together a list of 4 ways to motivate learners and hopefully make your life as a learning and development pro a lot easier!
Before we get started, we want to draw attention to the main point behind these ideas: To make it easy for people to progress! Sometimes we think it’s better to challenge our learners, and while there is a time and place for a big challenge, we also need to make it easy for people to progress and move through steps so they are encouraged by their own progress and motivated to continue.
1. Choose a modern digital platform that lets them set goals and track their own progress: This makes things simple for the learner and for the manager as well. It’s an easy way to track where the learner is at, create reports and go over these results with the learner as well.
2. Connect them with people who have the skills they need to hone: This may be with someone in your own organization or maybe someone out side of it. Help learners connect with other people who are a step ahead and can bring them along.
3. Make relevant learning materials available: Make these resources easy to access and readily available to your learners.
4. Develop a culture of continuous learning: Learning should never stop and a culture of continuous learning is a must for a well developed organization.
